Dr Helen Esdale grew up in Wodonga and moved to Melbourne when she was 9 years old. She earned her medical degree at The University of Melbourne and then spent several years working around Victoria and the Northern Territory trying out different medical roles. During this time, she undertook a Masters In Public Health & Tropical Medicine, graduating with Honours.

She then commenced her Obstetrics & Gynaecology training at The Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne and moved to Launceston in 2011. She fell in love with Launceston, the beauty of Tasmania and the fantastic staff at the LGH and decided to stay. During the final part of her training, Helen had two children of her own and completed a year of advanced surgical and laparoscopic training with the gynaecological oncologists at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
