Alex joins Tamar OBGYN as a new Consultant bringing with her passion of women's health with her caring and soft spoken nature.
Dr Alex Frain grew up in Northern Tasmania and went to study at the University of Tasmania, completing her medical degree in 2011. She started her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Launceston and worked at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital and North West Regional Hospital before venturing across to New Zealand for her advanced training at the Christchurch Women's Hospital.
Alex enjoys being a generalist gynaecologist and works across all areas of gynaecology. She has particular interests in colposcopy, vulval disorders, menstrual issues and laparoscopic surgery, including total laparoscopic hysterectomy and the surgical treatment of endometriosis. Alex is passionate about working with women to endable them to make informed choices about their health.
Alex also works as a staff specialist at the Launceston General Hospital. When not at work, she enjoys trail running, travelling and enjoying the parks of Launceston with her young children, and as a local, is excited to be back working in the community that she grew up in.
