Ben is Director of Tamar Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ashton Gate House. He is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with skills in advanced laparoscopic surgery and also works as an Associate Fertility Specialist with Tas IVF, Hobart. Ben sees a large number of complex high risk obstetric cases and couples with infertility issues. He also has an appointment with the Launceston General Hospital and Calvary St Vincent's Private Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer.

Ben was born in Malaysia and completed his medical degree in 1999. He has been proud to call Australia home since 2002.

Ben worked at the Western General Hospital and The Northern Hospital in Melbourne before moving on to specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Women’s Hospital and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. He completed his Fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy in Launceston. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists since January 2013.

Since commencing practice in Launceston, Ben has built his reputation as a caring and compassionate practitioner. He sees a variety of antenatal clients including high risk obstetric cases and patients requiring complex medical care during pregnancy. He is committed to managing each client with the utmost respect, taking into consideration their pregnancy plans and wishes in order to ensure the safe and memorable delivery of each baby. In addition, Ben also has skills in minimally invasive surgery and performs complex endogynaecological/keyhole procedures such as total laparoscopic hysterectomy and surgery for endometriosis, complex ovarian cysts and hysteroscopic removal of fibroids. He keeps abreast of the latest developments in the field of gynaecologic surgery and regularly adapts his practice to incorporate new and improved surgical techniques. He regularly trains Registrars in the field of minimally-invasive surgery in Gynaecology.

In addition to his current private practice, Ben is a Visiting Medical Officer with the Women’s and Children’s Services at Launceston General Hospital and is an Associate Specialist with Tas IVF.  Ben sees couples with fertility problems at Tamar O&G and offers a seamless referral and treatment pathway across to Tas IVF in Hobart for easy arrangement of appointments for your initial consult, treatment planning, fertility ultrasounds and pregnancy care.

Ben is the Medical Director of Tamar Obstetrics and Gynaecology and passionate about creating a warm and friendly space for his staff and ensuring all patients have a service with a difference when they visit Tamar OBGYN.

When he is not at work, Ben is passionate about photography and recently won an award at the Festival of Light for his photos capturing the beautiful Tasmanian scenery. He as recently been dabling in oil painting. He loves walking and keen on fitness and body strength. Ben is married to Joanne and has 2 boys.
