Nicole is a visiting Subspecialist Gynaecological Oncologist from Hobart seeing patients locally in Launceston referred from fellow OBGYN specialists for their management and treatment of gynaecological cancers.
Dr Nicole Krzys is a Gynaecological Oncologist working across Tasmania in both the public and private sectors. She specialises in the surgical management of cancers of the female reproductive system (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, vagina and vulva).
Nicole grew up in South Australia and completed her medical degree at the University of Adelaide. She has an interest in research, with a Masters in Science from the University of Oxford where she studies as a Rhodes Scholar. In Adelaide and Oxford, she also studied Philosophy. Nicole returned from the United Kingdom to undertake general Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne and had the opportunity to come to Launceston on rotation for 12 months. She loved her time in Tasmania and so aimed to return following her subspecialty training.
Nicole completed her advanced surgical training in Oncology at Monash Health in Melbourne, the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. She returned to Hobart passionate about providing world class care to the women of Tasmania, no matter where they live on the Island. Nicole is based in Hobart but consults from Tamar OBGYN as well as the Launceston General Hospital on a fortnightly basis. All surgery is performed in Hobart at either the Royal Hobart Hospital or the Hobart Private Hospital.
Nicole remains interested in research and serves on the scientific advisory board of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) and she is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Gynae Oncology Group (ANZGOG), the Australian Society for Gynaecological Oncology (ASGO) and the International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS).
